The Female Defender Initiative (FDI) was created to support and strengthen the community of women serving in Air Force Security Forces. Together we are F.I.R.E.
Defender Women bring leadership, resilience, and dedication to the mission every day. At the same time, the profession can present unique challenges that are easier to navigate with mentorship, shared experience, and strong community support.
F.I.R.E. exists to help build those connections.
Through mentorship, leadership development, and meaningful conversation, the initiative provides opportunities for women defenders to learn from one another, grow together, and support each other throughout their careers.
The purpose of IgniteFDI is simple: to strengthen the network of women in Security Forces.
By creating spaces where women can connect, share experiences, and support one another, the initiative encourages leadership development, confidence, and professional growth across the career field.
